Our History

Before the turn of the century, Dr. S.J. Summers, a family physician of the Cameron Community, brought from Mississippi the first pecan seedlings to be set out in South Carolina on a commercial scale. From that modest beginning, his son, David K. Summers, Sr., planted pecan orchards on the Summers Farm and elsewhere in South Carolina. He also built the first shelling plant in the Carolinas, Golden Kernel Pecan Company, Inc. Today, Golden Kernel Pecan is carried on by David's two sons, David and Bill. We also have some of our third and fourth generation here helping us continue what we have always demanded : have the best quality pecans you can find with excellent customer service.
